MCRRC News

  • Please join us for our Annual Holiday Party on Friday December 11, 2009 from 7pm to 11pm at the Gaithersburg Upcounty Senior Center (80 Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg). Open to all members and their guests, the party will feature a DJ, buffet dinner, and bar. Registration is only $15/person. Please contact Ashley Zuraf at runnerark@yahoo.com for information. Registration is available by mail or online (fees apply). Please RSVP by December 5th! We hope to see you there!
  • The November 30th deadline for an MCRRC Top 100 personalized bib number is just around the corner.

If you have volunteered for 5 club events, contributed 20 volunteer hours to the club, or contributed $100 to the club during 2009, then you are eligible for a personalized 2010 MCRRC race bib! Just submit your top five MCRRC race bib number choices (10-100) and your name will be custom printed on the bottom of your 2010 race bib which will be used for the low-key club races scheduled for next year.
  • Saturday Capital Crescent Trail (CCT) Runs—Beginning Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 8:00 AM, MCRRC members can meet other runners and walkers in the parking lot at the corner of Bethesda Ave and Woodmont Ave. Participants of similar pace will be asked to cluster and each group will determine its distance. This option is open to all MCRRC members. There are no fees, registration, coaching, or RSVP's.

These runs will be canceled when conflicting with MCRRC races, there are dangerous weather conditions (e.g., ice, lightning, etc.), or when the trail and/or downtown Bethesda is hosting a special event (e.g., Nov. 28th and Dec. 12th).

There is no dedicated web page or yahoo group for the CCT runs, so relevant info about CCT runs will be posted to the club’s mcrrc-info yahoo group and the club’s online calendar.

For additional information, email Wanda Walters or Karen Craney.
  • The C&O Snail Runs are unfortunately no more. The turn out was too light so the run is being cancelled. Special thanks to Pat Kaunitz for serving as the run's coordinator.
