This Weekend’s Family-Friendly Double Header!

Saturday is FAMILY DAY at MCRRC!

Get up & bring the kids to Kids on the Run at Bohrer Park on Saturday morning! There’s sure to be a distance for everyone. Children can choose from these distances based on their age and ability; 100M Toddler Trot (ages 4 and younger), Half-Mile, One-Mile.

All events take place on the paved trails of Bohrer Park in the City of Gaithersburg. Children do not run on roads. There is a ‘rabbit’ runner who will lead the children in each event. There is a ‘sweeper’ who follows behind for each event insuring everyone makes it back to the finish line. There are multiple opportunities to see and cheer for the runners. Finisher’s awards for all kids! Check out the event webpage for more information.

Rest & enjoy the day before bring the whole family out to La Milla de Mayo in Old Town Gaithersburg! La Milla de Mayo (The May Mile) is the perfect one-mile run/walk for those new to running or wanting to improve their mile in a fun, block party atmosphere in Olde Towne, Gaithersburg. Participants are invited to celebrate the race’s completion with music, food, Salsa dancing, and Cinco de Mayo festivities. Free Kids Fun Runs kick off the race! Runners of all ages and levels are eligible to register for this event.

The race is presented by the City of Gaithersburg in partnership with the Montgomery County Road Runners Club. Through corporate sponsorships and donations, proceeds benefit the City’s Dolores C. Swoyer Camp Scholarship Fund, which provides summer camp registration fees for underprivileged youth. Check out the race webpage for more information.

Volunteers are still needed for both events & SSL hours are available – sign up on our webpage today!
