Run for Roses 5K

Wheaton Regional Park by the carousel and train station: Take 495 to Georgia Avenue, North. Go 2.7 miles north on Georgia Avenue and turn right onto Shorefield Road. At the T, bear right to enter the park. Registration will be in the children’s train station (the red-roofed building at the far end of the parking lot).

Course Description: 

The 5K course (map, timing points) is mostly on a paved bike path through Wheaton Regional Park and Brookside Gardens.  The course begins with a short stretch on the roads, then continues on a scenic loop course winding through the woods, along the lake and around beautiful Brookside Gardens and finishes back in Wheaton Regional Park.

Race Details: 

The 5K race is for women only and is part of the Maryland RRCA's Women's Distance Festival Series.

There will be a free ¼ and ½ mile runs for all children (girls and boys) ages 12 and under at 7:45am. Every child receives a ribbon and a treat at the finish. Registration is race day only.

Registration is $15 through May 16th. $20 from May 17th to May 29th. $25 from May 30th through race day. Mother/daughter team registration is available. (Both team members must register individually in addition to joining the team.)  Online registration through June 12th includes imAthlete service charge ($1.88 for $15 fee, $1.40 for $20, and $1.75 for $25). Physical registration by US mail (postmarked by June 5) or on race-day morning.

Run for Roses t-shirts available for $16 ($15.09 + .91 tax which shows online as "shipping and handling").  The Brooks technical shirt has v-neck and short sleeves in Nightlife Yellow in women's small, medium, large and extra large. Order shirts during early or regular registration as sizes will be limited during late registration or on race day.

Long-stem roses & certificates to all finishers. Awards to top three overall finishers, first master, first two in each age group (15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70-74; 75-80, 81-) and first three mother-daughter teams. No duplicate individual awards. Random prizes and refreshments. post-race massages available.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome but must register in advance. We are pre-approved to issue SSL credit to MCPS students.  All volunteers receive a custom-designed cotton t-shirt along with our sincere appreciation. Online Volunteer Registration
