Race Management Service (RMS)
The Montgomery County Road Runners Club has 20 years experience in
managing running events of all sizes from 100 to 5000. The MCRRC will
serve as your consultant in the planning stages of your event, offering
you information and guidance on how to promote and conduct a foot race
including: scheduling, course design and measurement, securing permits and
insurance, design of entry brochure, pre- and post-race publicity,
deployment of safety personnel, and other functions and precautions
necessary to produce a safe and successful race. Then on race day, We will
take on the duty of timing and scoring your race.
The MCRRC wishes to offer two pieces of information to our
prospective clients at this time:
-
It takes a minimum of 9 months to conduct the planning for a new event.
-
A running event will be a money-losing venture unless the organizer(s) have generous commercial sponsor(s) willing to provide both cash an in-kind support to the event.
The MCRRC Offers Two Timing & Scoring
Packages:
Each of these include: an electronic timing device, a digital display
clock, a portable public address system, and a system for processing the
competitors at the finish line, plus experienced race management
officials.
-
Manual System: The client is; assisted with recording order of finish, is provided with a paper tape listing time versus order of finish, and is assisted with determining the award winners and assigning times to the order of finish list. This system is appropriate for races of 250 participants or less.
-
Computer System: Client is provided with complete order of finish, age group, and award winners printouts at race site as they are processed. MCRRC will post these on this web site and transmit appropriate results to the media. This system is appropriate for races of all sizes.
Other Related Services Include:
-
Course Measurement: The MCRRC will measure your race course for USATF Certification. Certification means that the distance is accurate to within 0.01%. Automobile odometers do not have the sufficient precision that is required for this.
-
Runner Database: The MCRRC maintains a database of approximately 14,000 active runners in the Washington DC area. A client may purchase any number of these labels ($0.08 per label) to mail your entry brochure directly to active runners. Experience has shown that direct mailing is the BEST method of promoting your race. Here is a tabulation of the database.
