Hi Tom -
I'd like to thank you for volunteering to run the SDP and to report to you my personal success. My time of 54:05 was over 7 minutes faster than last year's Pike's Peek time. In addition, my pace was about 45 seconds per mile faster than that I have been doing in recent 5k-5m's (of course some of that is attributable to the fast course). In addition to the physical preparation of the SDP, I decided for the first time to "go all out" and see what I could do. My personal goal was to avoid that "back of the pack" coupon at race's end!
Thanks again for your huge commitment to the program. This is the second program I have done with MCRRC and my participation has really increased my running enjoyment. Chris Avedisian
Tom, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed this program and thank you for all the work you put into it. It was a great way to stay motivated to run through the long, cold days of winter. Although I could not run the Pike's Peek, I'm quite pleased with my Piece of Cake time (my first 10K!) and for finishing the Cherry Blossom 10-miler; I know I would not have done as well without this program. I'm looking forward to participating again next year! Thanks. Stefanie Powers
Tom: Thanks for your coaching skills. Although I have never been a terribly fast runner, last week's Pikes Peek was the fastest 10K that I had ever run. That was gratifying as I approach 50 years of age. I found your orientation comments regarding "foot strike technique" and "stride technique," especially helpful. Best wishes. Dan Woronow
Hello Tom Brennan, I appreciated your advice and direction throughout the program and certainly your dedication as a volunteer. It was both motivational and helpful to me. The people were great! On Sunday I was second in my age group even though I did not run the race that I had envisioned. It was great fun. Another runner in my age group and I ran pretty close together from mile three to the finish where we both finished in 48:02 on the gun clock although I beat him by one second on the chip clock. Somehow he was given the second place award but I will make my move a little earlier the next time. May there always be a wind at your back and another race in you future. Tom Cowley
Tom:Thanks again for your work in setting up a great program. I got a lot out of it and the experience of being with dedicated, experienced runners is great. I will definitely consider joining up again next year, snow or no snow. Fritz Wells
Tom, Thank you for all your efforts in volunteering to help us become better runners. I really enjoyed the program. I couldn't believe my time at Pike's Peek! Thanks for everything! Aileen Shaffer
